WHO WE ARE!!

Margins is an online magazine starting up intended for marginalized girls everywhere. Nicole Lovett had this idea after reading online publications like thecoalitionmag and Rookie for years. She decided that more spaces for girls was an absolute must, and why shouldn’t she do something about it? Together with Emily Kim, the incredibly talented poet and editor, this dream is finally coming true!!!!

Nicole and Emily just graduated high school and will be college freshman in the fall. They have been good friends since sophomore year and strongly believe in safe spaces for marginalized people.

Emily was a staff member for the literary journal Enizagam for three years prior to graduation. Nicole was also a staff member for Enizagam for a year. They have experience in the inner-workings of publishing submissions from all over the world!!

OUR VISION!!

Margins’ vision is giving a voice for those who don’t have it. We want this magazine to be able to resonate and uplift people, as well as explore issues that are often pushed to the side.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR!!

Margins is looking for pitches/ideas for their first issue to be live in September. We are looking for fiction writers, poets, artists, and article writers. Click here for more in-depth details. Interested? Come on through! Send us an email at marginsgirlmag@gmail.com by August 1st. In the subject line, be sure to indicate: CALL FOR STAFF. Introduce yourself and then tell us your ideas for the magazine! Attach samples of your work! Everyone should hear of their status by August 1st if they are welcomed aboard our staff or not. During the month of August, we can begin working with you to make the first issue of Margins a reality in September!
